Hainan provincial government gave energetic support to and
placed sincere hope on International Information Park for
establishing Optic-electron International Information Park in Haikou

 

Mr. Xiaofeng Wang, governor of Hainan province pointed out in his speech in the summit that it is a grand meeting for the promotion of the international exchange and cooperation in the information industry as well as a golden opportunity to speed up the development of the information industry in Hainan province.

Hainan provincial Party committee and Hainan provincial government publicized jointly the documents titled "Suggestions about accelerating the construction of the information intelligence island" on January 19, 2001, proposing to build Hainan province into "an information intelligence island", whose fundamental connotations are mainly as follows: firstly, it should be equipped with fairly advanced information transmission artery and network to join it to the outside world; Secondly, the information technology is employed widely in the national economic and social life; lastly but not the least, the information industry should be fairly advanced.

As introduced by Mr. Houhong Wang, deputy director of Hainan provincial People's Congress and director of Hainan Informationization Construction Leading Group, the information industry will become one of the three pillar industries in Hainan province and Haikou Optic-electron International Information Park is part of the information intelligence island. "Suggestions about accelerating the construction of the information intelligence island" has put up forward the plan to promote the information industry in Hainan province, which includes a series of measures conducive to the construction of Haikou Optic-electron International Information Park.

Mr. Erqiang Ma, director of Hainan Provincial Information Industry Bureau said: "The output value of the information industry in Haikou city in 2002 was 1.806 billion yuan and it is expected to reach 5 billion yuan in 2005, which depends mainly on Optic-electron Information Industry Park". He pointed out that the information park is located in the best place in Hainan province, and Hainan is using the best place to develop information industry park.
