Second Session of Sino-European Investment & Trade Hotspot Issue Forum 2006 held in the State Guest Hotel

The Second Session of Sino-European Investment & Trade Hotspot Issues Forum 2006 themed "unscrambling the new win-win policies of Sino-European co-operation and exploiting new channel for trade co-operation between China and Europe " was held in the State Guest Hotel on March 2, 2006.

Wang Maolin, Deputy Director of the Law Commission of the National People's Congress (NPC) and Chairman of China International Institute of Multinational Corporations , Yu Xiaosong, former Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Woo Che Kwang , Chairman of the Dutch Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Lambert van Nistelrooij, member of European Parliament and Liu Qun, Deputy President of CIIC and General Manager of the Beijing State-Guest Entrepreneurs' Club delivered speeches at the forum.

Officials from the EU, the International Commerce Information Center of the Ministry of Commerce, the Dutch Chinese Chamber of Commerce, West-Holland Investment Agency, China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Light Industrial Products and Arts-Crafts and World City Institute discussed and exchanged views on hotspot issues such as Sino-European relationship and Sino-European trade.

Entrusted by Wang Tianyi, President of CIIC, Deputy President Liu Qun welcomed distinguished guests on behalf of CIIC and the State-Guest Entrepreneur's Club and wished a complete success of the Second Session of Sino-European Investment & Trade Hotspot Issues Forum 2006! Liu briefed his guests the functions of the State-guest Entrepreneur's Club and international resources and the active role of the club in the international exchanges. He said that the club assembled high-end resources from Top 500 companies, embassies and consulates of main industrialized countries to China, international business associations, international investment funds, governmental institutes, the financial circle and economic circle. By means of organizing international forums and business fair of Chinese and foreign enterprises, the club enhances exchanges and co-operation between enterprises, the enterprises and governments and enterprises and foreign diplomatic delegations to China to deliver economic and trade policies and information so as to build a platform of communication and co-operation for all circles.

Liu said that in 2005 the club has organized "One-to-One Trade Fair for Chinese Enterprises and New York-based Enterprises" for the trade delegation headed by Mr. Pataki, governor of New York State, "One-to-One Trade Fair for Chinese Enterprises and Pennsylvania-based Enterprises" for the trade delegation of Pennsylvania, invited international celebrities such as Rudolph Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, Prince Michael of Kent of the United Kingdom, Prince Abdulla Sultan Al-Dhaheri of the United Arab Emirates and Neil Bush, brother of President George W. Bush to visit China and CIIC. The state leaders and related ministries (departments) leaders also met these guests. The guests respectively signed co-operative agreements with the related government institutes and CIIC, covering energy, finance, education, international trade and real estate. The leaders of the cub also held talks with former president of the USA Mr. Clinton and governmental officials of France. The State-guest Entrepreneur's Club has made due contribution to enhancing nongovernmental diplomacy and international exchange and co-operation and received commendation in written from the government organs such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Liu hoped that more institutes like EU and Dutch Chinese Chamber of Commerce could establish long-term co-operative ties with the club, urge more EU enterprises to invest in China and contribute to exchanges and co-operation between China and EU members.
