CIIC's "Beijing Gulf, Capital's Enclave"

project team visits BEDA

From July 5 to 6, 2011, CIIC's "Beijing Gulf, Capital's Enclave" project team conducted an on-the-spot observation on Shandong Weifang Binhai Economic-Technological Development Area (BEDA) under the leadership of Liu Qun, vice president of CIIC and general manager of Beijing International Information Park Development Co., Ltd. Su Like, member of the standing committee of CPC Weifang Committee, secretary of the Party Working Committee of BEDA and director of the Administrative Committee of BEDA, and Wang Shenpeng, vice secretary of the Party Working Committee of BEDA and deputy director of the Administrative Committee of BEDA, met with the team members for a warm reception.

The observation targets at learning about the planning of BEDA and assuring the land coverage for the planning of the functional zones of the "Beijing Gulf, Capital's Enclave" project. The project teams had an observation on the road construction, land reclaim from the sea and the construction of the existing parks. It also visited the places within the range for the site selection for the functional zones of the "Beijing Gulf".

The two parties exchanged opinions on the "Beijing Gulf" and had an in-depth communication about the site selection, spatial layout, land cooperation mode and industrial planning. Preliminarily, it's assured that the project will cover an area of 80 square kilometers and specific coverage has been marked out on the overall planning drawings. The Administrative Committee of BEDA quite agreed with the proposal of the project team for building the project with one center--the Youth Center, three industries--the international information, international finance and tourism and health promotion industries, and nine functional zones. Remarkable achievements were made through the discussion.

To promote the construction of the project, BEDA has established the Administrative Committee of "Beijing Gulf, Headquarter B Area", and Secretary Su Like has been appointed as the director of the administrative committee.
